I was excited to find a great deal with Contact Energy, only to have my enthusiasm quickly dashed. To start with I believe the signup process was going smoothly. Until it became a complete disaster. Despite providing clear information about our business size and needs, we were mistakenly sold and signed up for a readental plan and then changed to a very expensive commercial plan weeks later when they recognized the mistake.
To make matters worse, no one at Contact bothered
to explain the significant price difference. We were left stunned when we received a shockingly high power bill of over $600, even though the building was unoccupied and the power was turned off for the entire time. This was entirely due to the excessive daily charges on the commercial plan.
It's unacceptable for a company to mislead customers in this way. Contact Energy should have been transparent about the pricing and plan options from the start. I'm grateful we were on an open contract and could switch to Genesis, where we received clear explanations and a much more affordable daily rate.
I urge potential customers to be cautious when dealing with Contact Energy. Their poor customer service and lack of transparency have left a bitter taste.
